Easy was faintly surprised to see her (previously) youngest son, though when she really put her mind to it, she thought she could remember hearing his voice sometime during her hazy labor and subsequent rest. He looked well, and she answered him, "We're all fine," even as Milan arrived and was given access to the babes.
"Let Milan check on them first," she said to him, stepping forward to bath his face in a quick kiss. "Didn't I send you home with your brother, my little wanderer?"
But she was not truly mad or truly anxious. Most of her children did not prefer to remain where they were born. They were much like her in that way — except that, now, she'd come again to the very hovel of her birth. She'd showed it to him already, back when they'd first come to this place — she wondered if that was how he'd known to find her.
But Milan was exclaiming over the babies, and with her heart swelling with maternal pride, Easy poked her head in to smile down at the four.
"Their names are Mission, Baby, Hellcat, and Danger," she replied, pointing out each child in turn. "Do they look well enough to you? That mottled boy nearly tore me open."
She said it with warmth and amusement, now.
