She wailed loudly, the sound growing in pitch with each passing second until it reached the decibel level of a low-flying airplane. Fortunately for the adult ears present, a set of jaws (Peregrine's) swooped in and the terrible cry stopped as soon as he dropped Wildfire next to her mother and nudged her in the direction of an actual nipple.

She began to suckle greedily, all the while pawing and kneading at the sparsely furred skin around Fox's teat, causing the flesh to flush pink. Oblivious to the effect on her mother's nip, Wildfire gulped down milk until her belly visibly distended, then unlatched and rolled sideways like a miniature blimp, smacking her lips and blowing bubbles.
