Blackfeather Woods out of sight

Lakhesis studied the mark she had made on the pale rock, one forepaw lifted to her chest as blood dripped from the wound there. The red liquid was smeared across the stone's surface, and the witch tried to decipher the message, though it was obvious by the frustrated expression on her face that she was having no success. Usually, the meaning was clear as day but, at the moment, the marking was as puzzling to her as it would be to a non-witch.

Perhaps Klotho had not chosen the newborns. But, then, she had led them here; here is where they would find her again. It was not coincidence that they had came upon these woods just as new threads were being weaved. Lakhesis wanted to know, how long would the threads be spun? Did one of the souls belong to their sister?

The blood gave no answers, however, and so the young wolf bristled, baring her fangs at the stained rock in anger.
