Sorry it’s took a bit longer than expected @Mara Susi . I thought it would be nice for us to have our own little thread if that’s okay! :3

Mason steadied himself against a tree, dripping wet from his dip in the lake. He was close to the place where his father now chose to hold meetings. His long silky fur splattered wantonly against his flanks, dripping water that steamed on escaping his own body heat. Mason looked extremely short, long and thin when he was wet. He usually avoided anyone except close family seeing him this way. He could just see the eyes on his ungainly, oversized body against his short skinny legs. Mason’s large spherical eyes looked comically far apart in this vulnerable pose, and he guessed he probably looked a bit like an oversized rat.

The boy moved away from the tree with a few shaky steps. He had kept to himself for a few days now, since he had heard the news that his stepmother was carrying babies. Mason felt weak, still suffering with a lingering cold that caused his nose to dribble saliva. A dip in an icy lake was no doubt the worst thing he could have done, but the Beta felt like waking himself up a bit. After the woozy feeling left his head, Mason shook out his fur to remove excess moisture until he was left looking like a scraggly toilet brush dripping droplets of lake water.

Mason padded away from the lake slowly on three brindled paws, which he had favoured slightly ever since the accident involving his white fore-paw. It was an unconscious decision and didn’t affect his running, only his walking gait. Perhaps when it was pointed out to him he might correct it, lest the right side of his body become weaker than his left. Any illness still riddling his body was forgotten as his thoughts roamed around other things.

The boy moved onwards, fire-eyes shining brightly in his unconventional face, whip-like wet tail wagging softly with his movements. Whatever else had been thrown at him recently, he now had something amazing to look forward to: soon he would be a big brother again.
