Though the flower itself wasn’t exactly useful, and had already been plucked from the earth, she still felt that it was important for all forms of life to be respected and nurtured—plants especially, for many species could not protect themselves. It was their job to watch over the flora and ensure that it remained healthy, rather than contribute to its death and (eventual) extinction.

Given Kaori’s overall reaction, the mother was struck by an idea. “Would you like to see a place where it grows?” she asked. It would be a bit of a walk, but it’d be worth it in the end. If ever the leaves were needed and Asterr was not around to provide them, it would be good to know that at least one of her children knew how to find the plant.

Once she'd readied herself, Asterr led the girl away in order to see the plant where it grew, and allowed for her to investigate it in any which way that she might have wanted to. Afterwards, the pair returned to the den and the mother ushered Kaori inside, leaving her to nap whilst the Chieftess herself remained outside for a short while longer.
