When she stated that he didn't need to feel bad for her, he felt he should clarify.  "I didn't offer you the rabbit because I felt bad for you. I'm just truly not overly hungry. I thought a hunt would be fun for us, and I thought it would be a good way to get a little practice in for you."  he said genuinely but complied with her suggestion.

"Sure we can share."  he agreed to clamp down and tearing the rabbit down with middle as best he could. He gave himself the butt end, not wanting to possibly offend her by giving her the better half. With the other half, he nudged it towards her. "Here, for your efforts."  he said with a smile.
