now that the rains were done, he finally felt good enough to go down the mountains for the first time in ages. fall was creeping in — he knew the seasons at least, which was good. which meant that it would get colder and colder. he'd never had to hibernate before. did mountain lions hibernate? shit, no one ever told him that. bears did, but he'd never met a bear. maybe he had to ask?

whatever, he knew that it was chow down time. even when he was with his owner, the cooling seasons were met with lots of food and wearing warm things. he was even granted warm pelts to wear from time to time, but he didn't like them much. anyway! — he needed to get food. and there wasn't much food on the mountains. all the big things ventured down to the lands below now that the rains had stopped. and he was gonna follow them. and...chase them. and eat them if he caught them. solid idea.

he knew that he wouldn't be the only one strutting around the foothills — he'd only been here fore a few months and he already knew the deal. lots of wolves around here, most are scared of you, blah blah blah. he figured it'd be the same when he saw this new wolf in the plains under the mountains. he approached anyway. he liked talking to the wolves, fear or not. yoo, he drawled pleasantly to the wolf. he had the impulse to wag his tail, but wagging was an angry sign for cats, yet happy for dogs and wolves. weird. he looked the wolf over — he couldn't tell gender from looking at them, and he didn't get close enough to smell them. what uhhh, what happened? to your arm?
