the afternoon is warm; the skies clear and the sun warm upon her back as mulberry traipses around the mouth of the den. she carries the bottom half of a rabbit jaw in her grasp, gifted to or found by her — she could not remember and decided that it didn't matter. she parades it around for the birds who sing above; a symphony of trills and tweets and whistles that weave the background music to her antics.
emerald grasses and fallen leaves crunch beneath her paws as she places her prize down by her paws and begins to dig furiously at the soft, fertile soil. just like she saw one of her parents doing recently as she spied on them, doing her very best to emulate them by practicing cache building ( though if she was aware that was what she was doing or not was another matter altogether ).
