Felltree Marsh black bridge

Kanuk had been tasked by her sivullik to get a lay of the land outside of the rise. Along the way she was tempted by the scent of game, which so far had been limited.

This sojourn led her through marshland. Here she picked her way along the hidden solid portions of earth. Some steps had her sinking ankle- or shoulder- deep in freezing mud.

After hoisting herself free for the umpteenth time, Kanuk paused to survey the path her body had worn across the mud and snow, and grimaced.
