Let Perry know you're still around! This is mandatory for all adult characters, though only one post is required (so no EXP, sorry!).

I know Dove's technically a PPC, so do you wanna PP her, Remedy?

@Fox @Finley @Elwood @Jaws @Grimm @Crow @Magpie @Tiger @Dove @Silverfeather

Between looking after Fox and the pups; doing lots of solo hunts and patrols; and searching for Somnia, Peregrine hadn't had much spare time to spend with the other members of the pack. He felt strangely disconnected from them and didn't like it. He saw his Betas on the reg but what about wolves like Jaws and Grimm? He hadn't heard a peep from either of Fox's sisters lately, which was a mixed blessing. There were some new members that he barely knew. Were Hex and Silverfeather even around anymore...?

There was one simple, direct and lazy way to find out for sure. Stepping onto an outcropping not far from the Alpha pair's den, Peregrine lifted his black muzzle into the air and howled for his pack mates' attention. His message was simple: "This is a role call!" Those who did not speak up now would lose their place in the caldera's ranks.

Magpie had been taking it easy in the wake of her "accident", giving her body the necessary time to heal. Although her ankle would still twinge from time to time, she felt much more like her old self. Her wounds had healed, and she was ready to continue the necessary work of proving herself to the Caldera. Fox and Peregrine had time to unwind and spend time with their children, and it seemed like they were growing similarly anxious to reconnect— Peregrine's authoritative broke over the territory, seeking response from his followers.

She lifted her head in answering call, firm and confident: Magpie is here.

Though he was not the social butterfly, Jaws had been dutifully attending to the pack needs as was asked of him when he first joined. He routinely checked the borders and with the help of Elwood even refreshed their markers, he made sure the caches were kept stocked as well, and had paid a couple visits to the pack's smallest members too. He hadn't seen Peregrine since he visited the den the first time, playing with the Alpha's daughter, Wildfire. No sooner did the thought cross his mind that he ought to pay his swarthy leader a visit did he hear Peregrine's commanding howl envelope the territory, followed by an answer from Magpie. It was a roll call and the coywolf was quick to send his reply, tilting his head back and answering with a loud howl of his own. Jaws is still here.

Grimm, much like Jaws, was still keeping to herself apart from occasional visits to the Alpha den for Puppy Time. She was not as frequent a visitor as she would have liked, but between steering clear of Finley and Elwood and a general feeling of unease, things had just worked out that way.

Nevertheless, upon hearing her Alpha's call, Grimm raised a long, low howl in response from her perch near the Caldera's chilly lake.

Peregrine's call saddened Elwood somewhat. It reminded him that Somnia was gone and that, despite his best efforts, he hadn't been able to track her down. He didn't want to admit it, but it seemed as though she wouldn't be returning anytime soon; his searches had been fruitless thus far, and with duties to tend to within the pack, he couldn't scour the Teekon Wilds for her.

But, along with sorrow, the Beta male felt strength as his packmates began to reply. Their howls sounded from all corners of the caldera, soaring over the squat mountain and entwining to create a beautiful melody. They continued to grow and prosper; the pack was blooming, just like the spring. So Elwood tilted his chin up towards the sky and joined them, reaffirming his loyalty to Redhawk Caldera.

Yep, I can PP her. :)

Although Dove had been scarce for the better part of the pups' lives, Fox still trusted her enough to watch over them from time to time. So, with the three little nuggets safe and sound with their Aunt Dove, Fox made her way to a nearby stream to lap up some of the cool, clean, and clear water. She'd gotten about three sips in when Perry's call caused her to whip her head up and prick her ears forward. Like him, she was also out of the loop with many of the newer recruits.

A few other voices rang out before Fox finally sidled up alongside Peregrine. "Dove’s back at the den watching the kids," she said, in case he was wondering why her voice wasn't added in with the rest. It wasn't until the other howls died down that Fox realized this might be the first time she'd been alone with Perry since the kids were born.

Tiger listened as her leader called for a headcount. Curious. Tiger obediently lifted her head and called to the pack after, voicing her presence... and noted the number of howls that sounded. She would have to get to know her pack-mates ASAP, she decided. The pale wolf was two days deep a Caldera wolf, and tomorrow she'd take the initiative to get into high gear and meet someone new. The Blackthorn was only now beginning to get settled, but better to start sooner than later.

Have I ever talked about how Fin is super dumb?

Let's discuss.

When Peregrine's call sounded out across the Caldera, Fin was at the farthest reaches with her sights on Lake Rodney.  She was really hoping to get some hunting in that day, even though she really didn't have any particular quarry in mind.  The herds she'd been keeping tabs on had meandered out of her reach and though Fin usually had no qualms with venturing away from the territory, the birth of the firebirds had made her reluctant to go too far out of reach.  The plains between the Caldera and Rodney were still plenty within her comfort zone, though, and thus Fin was quickly cantering down the slopes when she heard Peregrine's howl.

She really had heard it, guys.  I mean, it was a perfect mix of loud and bold and all hey listen bitches! so obviously, she hadn't missed it.  She'd even stopped for a second so that she could tilt her head back and return the call.  But then... Out of the corner of her eye, Finley saw movement, and immediately her attention was reclaimed.  The beta whipped her head about to give a shrewd look at a large thicket only a few feet away where she truly though she'd seen movement.  As she crept towards it to inspect further, Peregrine's howl was swiftly stuffed into the back of her mind along with other rather important things that she'd completely forgotten existed...

It wasn't until her belly was nice and full of bunnies that she suddenly remembered what had been asked of her.  Her eyes burst open rather suddenly though she was in the midst of a deep sleep, and (likely) much to a soundly sleeping Elwood's unease, Fin darted quite suddenly out of the mouth of her den into the night and threw her head back, sending her voice into the sky even though it had been hours and hours since the request for her chime-in had been sent.

Peregrine had asked for confirmation of the presence of his members.  And yet, Fin had no doubt that he wouldn't mind a less than typical response from his beta female as she sounded a loud WHOOPS! out into the still night air.  Mission accomplished, she slipped back into the den, snuggled up against Elwood and fell right back asleep.

When the alpha male issued his howl, Crow had been rummaging through a swath of decaying leaves and brush, searching for the burrow of a rabbit she'd spotted much earlier in the day. Although she knew very well that she hadn't taken quite enough time to acquaint herself with her new-found family (not to mention the fact that she hadn't seriously made an attempt to seek out the sister that had led her to them), it suddenly occurred to her that she needed to step up her game. Throwing back her head, she joined the chorus of those who responded, sending her resolve out into the caldera's farthest reaches. She was an easily distracted individual, to be sure, but Crow simply had no intention of going elsewhere.

Just wrapping up! Thanks for participating, everyone. :)

One by one, they joined the song. Peregrine felt his spirits lift with each voice that rose into the sky. For the most part, they were all still here. There were a few conspicuous absences, however. He knew better than to read into the Beta female's silence; she was probably out of earshot somewhere, being an Outrider. And he hadn't really expected to hear from the Silverfeather. Like Hex, she had simply vanished. He didn't care very much, seeing as he'd barely known her. And neither Fox nor Dove were heard, though that situation was explained when the Alpha female appeared at his side.

"Ah," he said simply to her comment about Dove. He sort of wished she'd disappear and she certainly wasn't his top pick for babysitter. But he was grateful for the time alone with Fox. "Well, let's not squander this opportunity. Let's go for a walk," he proposed, licking her cheek. They wouldn't go far -- perhaps just a stroll around the caldera's inner lake -- but it would be nice to steal a few minutes with his life partner.
