She did not understand or rather, she did not remember. her limbs burned like she had been running for too long, her lungs felt like they were too small for her body and yet she kept breathing hard. sensitive eyes looked up at the darkening heavens. tangerine, magenta, indigo, the colors seemed to bleed together as they followed the dying sun. her instincts told her to be excited that soon the sun would disappear from the horizon, to be happy that the moon would cast her light over the darkness covered forest but she could not understand why. she found out just a day or so ago that she was alive though she was not sure why she thought she died, since then the terrorizing dreams haunted her every time she closed her eyes. they were just dreams, right? the broken angel hoped they were, even when the attacks seemed to match the markings along her fur. a caw came, her blush hued eyes looked up. right, the crow that seemed to follow her everywhere was perched on a branch just above her.
she quickly forgot about her again as she tried to calm her breathing, tried to tell herself there was nothing to be afraid of and just she woke up in a panic. the feeling of being trapped and enslaved, this was the reason for her heavy panting but how did she get here? images flashed in her mind and she knew, she fell asleep in a forest covered in mist. a sound spooked her away and she ran as fast as she could like she knew what she was doing, like she had done it before. a whimper seemed to fall from her lips as she leaned against a still standing, an ash tree. she did not care that it had the sounds here were just as haunting, again she whined. she did not want to live in fear anymore, she wanted to stop seeing things as she slept, she wanted to feel safe, even if the word did not have a true meaning to the child. she wanted to not hurt anymore, again the colorless crow brought her attention back to it. what a strange bird.

the cramps that had crippled her the day before had subsided somewhat, the children in her womb had stilled (but not dangerously so). she was fatter than ever, but still she strode towards the forest.
she had not stepped foot here since THE DARK MAN had marked her, the lacerations still visible though their weeping had stopped. she bristled as she stepped past the borders.
it was full of new scents, and despite the snowfall, his still lingered. she felt his EYE turn from miles away and settle on her, and she bristled dangerously. her breath hitched in her throat, and instinctively she felt one of her paws move to her abdomen.
what was she doing here? it was dangerous but she had felt like she was ready, when in reality she had just made a mistake. a low whine cut the air and her ears swiveled — she scented again, to make sure the man who assaulted her was not near and headed towards the source of the sound.
she looked like xan. she felt a number of things all at once, most of them to protect the pitiful thing. the crow went ignored for now, and reigi chuffed softly to get her attention.
