the trail of the party had gone faint now, but he identified the source leading to the mesa that looms large and mighty over the flatlands like that of the shogunate.

he looks upon it from darkness, sheltered by the woods he has set camp within for the night.

Also being very vague with this! What are timelines?

Ransem extended his horizons from the Storm Watch Butte. Ranging further and further from the rock formation. He had used the vantage point to orient his path towards greener pastures, and into the flatlands he travelled. His prowling was not without caution. Canid scent tainted the lowland winds with every speck of dust that took to the air. He did not need to disturb the waters, not yet.

He skirted past an impressive mesa. The towering stone dwarfing that of the butte he considered as camp. In the distance trees grew tall. Notable in the wide swaths of open land. He gravitated towards it as the sun fell and the moon rose. Its silver glow a natural lantern for any weary traveler.

Only so long as it was visible.

The forest trees loomed tall and mighty, overlapping boughs leaving the meager light to filter down to the forest floor in thin shafts. Amidst the overwhelming stench of bird, there is another here. His scent weak, Ransem considered the lone stranger. A passerby more than a resident of this wood. Perhaps it was worthwhile to investigate. Ransem's head dropped low and he began to stalk through the shadowed forest, tracking the scent.

bird flap their wings, bursting into wild flight far off in the distance, deeper into the heart of the forest. when masa redirects towards it, he smells it — someone else is here.

who it was, the wind did not tell, so masa only follows it. his camp was only himself and a halfeaten rabbit, it could be abandoned.

further, then, he stalks, hoping for answers. hoping it is not another challenger.
