She still couldn’t see, though the time for her to be able to was almost up. Perhaps she was slow and needed longer time to develop, but honestly who knew? She couldn’t even tell if her siblings were on the same boat or if their eyes had already opened. Funnily enough, her brain couldn’t process such an interest anyway.

Her whines hurt everyone’s ears, so when they came out loud as always, it was obvious she was once again craving some milk. In the process of trying to get some, she stepped on @Candela’s head and kicked her brother @Vincent in the belly. When she finally got to find a teat for her to drink from, it was already claimed by @Nymphora… So she stole it from her. Unfortunately, not even @Reyna was spared as Valeria literally bit her and pulled on the gland to get more of her sweet drink.

Reyna must have been exhausted, definitely not built to handle her own kids’ attitude. @Paloma was gone for a while, but very much needed.

pressure forced its way across her face and neck, quickly and without remorse. the little one gasped and squealed; when free again moments later, her eyes bulged as she came up for air. wide-eyed, blue-black.

the shape of valeria was hazy. so would anything else as the girl's sight adjusted and settled over the coming weeks. what was clear from the start, however, was the personal wound left behind that seeded within little candela the first black mark against an enemy.

staring at the back end of her sister as she feasted, candela screamed.

He had been sleeping ever so peacefully. Emphasis on the had.

A swift, painful kick to his stomach tore Vincent from his slumber – and if that wasn't bad enough, he was promptly jostled amongst his siblings as one sister decided she was suddenly hungry and clambered over the others. He roused, tiny face contorted into a look of utter disdain as a single eye cracked open, revealing a tiny sliver of blue. Vague shapes danced before him, and the fledging stared, before turning his head as he heard the faint cries of another sister beside him.

It would take time for the senses to develop fully, but already Vincent was unimpressed with these new happenings. Why was this thing so loud? Clumsily, he moved towards her and – in an effort to return the peace – closed his mouth around her own squealing, pugged muzzle.

One moment, she'd been pleasantly enjoying a meal, and the next, she found herself being battled against for control. The battle was quick, yet harshly fought. Nymphora wailed in defeat, trying to call attention to the injustice that was being done here.

When nobody came to save her, and shove away that terrible thief, Nymphora receded and shambled over her brother to lie on his side instead. She'd steal from him, now that she herself had been dethroned. Anything but find an unoccupied spot.

Slowly, sealed eyes grew the strength to crack open in narrowed slits, just enough to glimpse the face of the one that had vexed her. Or, at the very least, the vaguest, blurriest little shape of her.

A vow of enmity was struck, a first enemy made. Even without the ability to comprehend such an action, Nymphora was giving her sister a vicious stinkeye.

very likely last one from me

The funniest thing about the whole incident was that Valeria still couldn’t see. The angry faces, the bickering and shifting; all of which was done to stop her wasn’t helping at all. She was a little squealing mess, and when her brother lashed after her, her voice grew louder.

Like a hamster she whined before finally freeing herself from his hold and biting on the teat again to get more milk for herself. It dripped down her chin and stained her mouth. Her mother, swollen from the constant abuse, couldn’t even speak.

Then one eye cracked open, and she looked a little stupid, like a rat. As her dad called her. At least she could see now: the terrible faces of her siblings she would have to look into for the rest of her life. More milk then she wanted to drink, kicking once again those who were in the way. And those whom her legs couldn’t reach, she smacked with her tail.

cameo!

Paloma's head tosses around a slender front limb, pale lavender gaze hard-eyeing the fighting children as they likely so roused Reyna from her day-slumber from their high pitch yapping, whines and biting.

Paloma one moment thought them cute. In another felt like she might eat them like she very much wanted so the thou shall not speak of pups who 'didn't make it'.

Of course, Paloma was partial to Candela and Valeria, given their very closeness to Reyna's beauty. However, Paloma would likely now and always stay out of their little scraps between one another.

May the strongest survive.
