Lumar padded through Herbalists’ Cache, feeling the pine needles crunch beneath her paws, the young coyote cast a few nervous glances around her, then continued on.  A small scar stretched down her side, one that held memories of what she had escaped.  Just one month earlier Lumar and her Mother had been slaves for a powerful wolf named Intin Yukshen.  Lumar had made a mad dash for an escape with her Mother, but during the escape her Mother had been killed by Intin, and Intin had left her with that one scar.  She still could not fully trusting her surroundings.

The almost nine month old coyote paused in her steps at the sight of berry’s.  Her heart felt like it was raised in hope at the sight of them and her eyes shone excitedly, but slowly her heart sunk and her eyes trailed to the ground as she realized that the berry’s were intact poisonous at the smell of them.  Lumar sat down, head hanging in defeat.  The coyote had learned how to hunt, but she could not find any prey in this cold, winter barren land, so she had simply had not eaten anything but small bugs she could find on the ground... still she was so very hungry.
