Sebastian felt his heart break a bit when the girl started sobbing. She wanted the best of both worlds and that was not always available. The young male felt bad for her but he also didn't want her to keep wallowing in the loss she had suffered. She would need to accept that this was part of her life. Sebastian only didn't know how he could make her accept that.

He tugged her close against him and let her sob her heart out. "There, There," he spoke softly. "I doubt that was the case," he added and nosed over her head. "You have to stop thinking in this doom scenario. This was not your fault Odette. Not in the slightest. If the bugs hadn't been there none of your parents would have suffered due to food scarcity. The bugs killed him, not you," he spoke.

"You are just so upset about what happened that you want to blame something, but this is bigger than you. You cannot blame yourself, Odette. You cannot." Sebastian looked down at her seeing that he was bigger. The young alpha smiled sadly at her. "You are wonderful young lady and you don't deserve to carry so much guilt."

Sebastian's words were comforting, but she still felt terrible.  Slowly she began to blink back her sadness of her face, although it still resided in her heart.Odie nodded.  "T-thank you Uncle Seb."  She whispered quietly, then stared hard down at the ground, wishing that she could just forget.  How easy would that be... just to forget everything and start anew to start a better life, still she knew that that was not a good option.  Odette knew that she couldn't just forget, but she could always wish and dream.

There was another matter though, the bugs.  She couldn't remember when they had first appeared, but they had once been a normal everyday thing as they had first appeared when she was very young.  She was happy that they were gone now though.  She would not miss them one bit.  "Why did the bugs have to come?"  ODette asked Uncle Seb with a sadder glint in her eyes.

Sebastian smiled down at her in a fatherly way. The girl however was looking at the ground. The young male shook his head a bit. "No one knows, Odie," he admitted. "No one know,"he repeated with a soft sigh.

"Sometimes things like that happen, and there is nothing we can do about it. The only way to get better is to pick up your life again. Don't you think your mom, dad and solemn would want you to be happy?," Sebastian spoke and then laid down to look at her, and to push her chin up a bit with his own nose.

"I'm going to tell you a secret, which might help. You know about the stars right? Well, my mother told me that ever wolf who dies becomes a star in the sky, to look down on the loved ones they left behind. So if that is true then your family is looking down at you! And every time you laugh, they will smile too because they are so happy to watch that you are alright."

So cute. I can't <3

Sebastian's words touched her and her eyes continued to water with little nods of her head.  He was right Mom, Dad and Solemn would have wanted her to be happy.  The pain would probably never go away, especially after losing so much, but perhaps with this piece of knowledge given to her by Uncle Seb she could feel happier again... feel more whole.

Then he went on to talk a little more spiritual and Odie found her much more unsure.

What he told her was so much like what Krypton had once told her.  She knew that Sebastian was probably only trying to comfort her, help her... but she didn't want to be lied to.  No one knew what happened after death... no one knew truely till you actually died yourself.  Odette didn't want to hurt his feelings though by telling him that she didn't believe him, mostly due to the fact that his Mother had been the one to tell him.  Yet, she still felt that she had to tell him, to show him where she stood.  She trusted him anyways though, so it's not like anything could go to wrong... right?

"No one truely knows what happens after death, but I hope that they are happy."

Sebastian sat with Odie by the fen. He was looking up too, though the sky didn't show stars now in the daylight. The male still quirked up his lips a bit, thinking of his own mother that might be up there. However Odie spoke and it made him focus on her again. "Let us all hope that," he spoke to her and sat back. He had a really deep conversation with such a young wolf. This only showed that pups were really smart, especially the ones who went through a lot.

Sebastian sat back with her in a comfortable silence, probably while they were both thinking. He wasn't sure what more things Odette was thinking about but he was certain she would make a beautiful young woman later in life. She just had to figure out what would work for her.

Sounds like a good end, feel free to archive or wrap up on your side, or! To continue if you like that.

Uncle Seb seemed to agree with her and she was glad that he did.  After that though, she just sat there in silence next to her Father figure, imaging her Mother, Father and Solemn dancing in the sky.  For a second she thought she saw them within the clouds and a desperate gasp escape her mouth, but then as quick as she had thought she had seen them they were gone.  Her parents and Solemn despite how much she wanted them, were never coming back.

A single tear slipped down her cheek.

Thank you for the thread!  It was so precious.
