Sorry this is short. I'm terrible at starters. @Chelan

The ocean shimmered with light stolen from the sun, a glittering explanse of gold and diamonds strewn across a blue plain. Salish had been lounging on the beach since dawn, watching the sun slowly rise higher and higher. The tawny she-wolf was born an early riser, awakening before even the songbirds each day; she loved to watch the sunrise, to start off her day with the unmatched beauty of the sun creeping over the horizon, painting the sky with the glorious colors of morning.

Her limbs began to stiffen from hours of sedation, therefore needing a good stretch. She lifted her head from between her pale paws and rose to her feet, leaning forward to stretch her hindquarters, then backward to stretch her front legs and her shoulders. With a gaping yawn, the girl began to walk slowly along the shore, her belly rumbling. She yawned several more times, obviously not too keen on getting up just yet.

That's fine!

Chelan was out doing as his duties entailed, patrolling and marking borders and making sure there was not a trespasser or threat to be found. He had been up since the crack of dawn having been woken from a rather restless sleep. Though like most things he chose not to let it bother him. Instead he just took it as what it was and started his day early.

Besides there was always plenty of things that he could do around here. Including locating Gabe whom he had yet to meet and identify just how much the two male consorts had still to learn.

As he approached the southern coast a familiar face was spotted. His sister Salish who appeared to be having a lazy day was just getting up from the sand and heading towards the water. Chelan sniffed at the edge of the trees before marking it and then picked up a trot chuffing to inform the fae of his presence.

Though she may not approve of him taking a break, he wanted to see that she was settling in since they hadnt had the chance to talk properly since she had gone ahead on their travels to meet the pack first.

Despite the fact she was his blood relative he still held a submissive posture as he greeted her. "Morninghe spoke in greek in a respectful tone. "Beautiful day," he mused.

His footsteps muffled by the sand, Chelan's presence remained undetected until he spoke, startling her. She unleashed a high-pitched yelp, but smiled as she looked over her shoulder to watch her brother's approach. "Good morning," she returned. "Yes, it's gorgeous." She pivoted her whole body to face the agouti-furred male, her postsure shifting to one of dominance. A surge of arrogant pride came over her, as it always did when she found herself interacting with the opposite sex. True, Chelan was her brother, yet he was still a consort, and it pleased her to express the inherent authority which she held over him.

"Settling in okay?" Her stomach gave an almighty roar, one that could have awakened the dead, whilst her tail swished behind her and a sheepish grin appeared on her velvet lips.

Chelan cringed as he appeared to have startled her and he offered an apologetic glance as she turned to face him. That was the last thing he intended to do and yet it happened.  Though she seemed to recover well as she greeted him in return and commented on the day as well.

She also questioned how he was settling in. "I was going to ask the same of you," he spoke as he noted her authoratative posture. Nothing less would be expected when she was speaking to a consort family or not. "I have been settling in alright, a few restless nights but nothing worth stressing over," he spoke with a casual roll of his shoulders.

Before more could be said Salish's stomach growled rather loudly to which she responded with a sheepish grin. "Apologies if I interupted your morning hunt," he mused with a soft chuckle.

Don't worry about it, she said dismissively. She was not one to anger over small matters such as being startled, although the apology was welcomed. Chelan knew the Nereides way well; she never worried about him causing issues, as she did the other consorts. They would do well to learn from him, Chelan being a good model to follow. In her heart, Salish was proud of her brother, and because of that, she saw no reason to be rude to him.

The furious grumbling in her belly being extremely audible, Chelan responded to it with an additional apology. Well, she began, honey eyes drifting beyond him to gaze into the island treeline, then returning to him. Come hunt with me. It was spoken in the tone of a suggestion, but in reality, it was a command. That way you can make up for it. She finished with a light snicker.

Chelan's ears twitched as Salish spoke. Suggesting but more so commanding him to come hunt with her to make up for the fact he had interupted. He nodded before speaking "Consider it done," he spoke.

"What do you fancy?" he spoke knowing there was no question about who's decision this was. Besides, he wasn't all that hungry anyways. He waited for her to take the lead before taking up a spot beside her though lagging slightly behind for obvious reasons. "How are you settling in though? I hope well," he spoke respectfully but his tone also posessed a rather brotherly concern.

Salish took the lead, allowing him to walk by her side, but slightly behind. She was quite pleased that Chelan had discovered her this morning. It meant that she would scarcely have to work very hard in order to gain a meal, as she would have if she'd remained solitary and without a consort to do the work for her. Hmm, she hummed, playfully and gently hitting her brother square in the face with her soft tail. Honestly, Chelan, I'm at the point where I could give two shits about what I eat, as long as I'm eating. She glanced backward and flashed him a crooked smile as they proceeded towards the forested heart of the island.

Chelan huffed as Salish swatted him in the face with her tail appearing to try and decide what she would want to eat and then stating she would be happy with whatever he they could find.

Chelan frowned slightly as his question of how she was settling in was ignored a second time. Seems today was not his day to get the answer and he would just have to assume she was fine. He brushed the disappointment off quickly as she flashed him a crooked smile. "Alright then,"  he mused. "But I will only accept the best for you though," he said half playfully half dead serious. That statement both had a servitude and religious side as well as the brotherly protective side of him in it Salish was free to believe whichever she wished though either way he knew what it meant.

As the two of them walked Chelan glanced around keeping an eye out for the slightest of movements. Something that would be a suitable meal for his sister.   It was after a short while  of searching that he spotted a rabbit  off to his left. "Hold on I've found something," he muttered in a hushed tone as he slinked into position.

He was in perfect range of the rabbit and even better he was down wind so the rabbit certainly couldn't smell him coming. The rabbit paused lifting its head and chewing on some leaves and that was when Chelan jaws grasping the rabbit around its neck and clamping down until the rabbit went limp.

He glanced back over to Salish forming a smile out of what could be seen of his maw as he trotted back towards her placing the rabbit by her feet and then stepping backwards taking a seat at a fair distance from her. "Dinner is served," he spoke with a respectful dip of his head.

Salish giggled at the noise he made, but soon thereafter, Chelan told her he would make only the most suitable kill for the sunny Initiate. She dipped her maw, simultaneously acknowledging and agreeing. Their distance into the forest deepened, so she kept her voice soft lest she startle her potential meal away. That's a good lad, Salish winked at him, although he may have missed it depending upon whether he faced forward or towards her. It was not spoken seriously, but rather with good-natured mockery, although her praise had been genuine.

Politely, the boy requested she stay put and raced ahead, apparently chasing the rabbit which they had both discovered grazing among the foliage. In mere minutes, Chelan returned to her with a dead and bleeding rabbit; a nice, plump one, too. She did not thank him, nor did she offer him even the smallest bite, because he was there to serve her. That was his job. However, she did praise him once again, impressed.

A quick, clean kill. Well done, brother. Without another word, she proceeded to wolf (yay for puns) the carcass voraciously. She effectively made a  mess, as well, and soon her muzzle and chest were stained with blood, bits of fur scattered an unbelievably large distance ahead of her.
