Against all probability, Talos's superheroic but rather inept efforts met with success. At least, she found her paws colliding with something—or more correctly, someone—and it was enough to stop the tiny fluffball of a brute from making a drum out of her skull. Hah! Triumph surged within the big black pup as she wallowed forward, digging her claws in far to either side of her like a baby seal maneuvering as she sensed that the brattiest brother's soft, quivering underbelly was now exposed. She was determined she'd wallop him a good one right where it hurt, and that would stop him from messing with her ever again!

Despite these grandiose plans as she moved in for the kill, and despite landing a few thumps more-or-less solidly, she found herself once again thwarted, and this time by a much larger and more skillful snout than any of the still-growing litter's. Talos squalled first at the interruption, and secondly at the sudden indignity of finding herself outmaneuvered and gracelessly rolled belly-up herself. Not fair, Mom, not fair at all! Belly-up was a position only suitable for dumb brothers who deserved it! Now it was Talos's turn to flail her limbs about in the air, an upended cockroach unable to connect feet to earth without assistance. The unholy racket escalated in volume as Talos let the whole world know just how unsatisfactory this set of circumstances was.

She was completely unimpressed by Durnehviir's belated discovery. First off, she couldn't hear the exclamations, and second off if such a discovery required lying upside-down on her spine, Talos would just as soon have let it go undiscovered. She had no sympathy whatsoever for her poor overworked mother, whose exhaustion Talos herself was of course partly to blame for— Talos had exactly one goal in life right now, and as far as she was concerned all that mattered was that Mother had stopped her, right there in her tracks (so to speak). But between all this noise and all this physical exertion, Talos was running through her energy supply at a pretty rapid pace, and someplace in the back of her mind it registered that the milk bar was right over there— but Talos firmly tried to set it out of her mind as she unsuccessfully attempted to air-walk her way back to her smaller brother and finish the job.
