Swiftcurrent Creek smells like teen spirit

The hard chill of winter had finally passed for good and was replaced now with mild weather and new growth everywhere the eye looked. Flowers burst forth from trees and shrubs in cheerful sprays of whites, purples, and pinks, nurtured by the frequent rain showers and damp fog that settled in the Teekon Wilds this time of year. Today, though, there was not a cloud in the sky and a warm sun shone down uninhibited on the land that was practically glowing with all of the recent fresh green growth. And along with the excitement of the changing of the seasons, Clock was burning with curiousity about Durnehvirr's puppies. He knew she had delivered a few weeks ago, but he was completely ignorant when it came to newborn puppies and had no idea what to expect. So, it was on this glorious spring day that the gray male decided to loiter around the entrance to the alpha female's den. He made sure to maintain a respectable distance, not wanting to threaten the new mother, but gosh... he just had to see these new puppies. He wondered how many there were and what they would be like.

He waited for what seemed like a very long time, but there was no sound or movement from within the den. Disappointed, he flopped down on side in the sun and closed his eyes for a long nap instead. The heat of the mid morning sun was so pleasant that he soon fell asleep, and when he woke a long while later, it was to the sound of movement at the den. Lifting his head, Clock looked over in time to see the little black creature struggling mightily to the den entrance on wobbly little legs. Entranced, Clock stayed frozen in place with ears pricked attentively forward wondering what the little fellow would do. The pup was much smaller than he had imagined, and so much more frail! The tiny little eyes looked myopically out at the world, not yet able to fully perceive it with the senses. Clock's bushy tail gave a involuntary wag of happiness, stirring up the dirt where he was laying but he continued to watch in silence. He wanted to see how far the little pup would go on his own.
