happened directly after this thread. i had permission to PP hyacinth and treason and rannoch. this is for everyone's reference, terance will be holding a meeting within the following days. your character can know some things via gossip, but they'll be filled in ICly very soon. @Laurel @Xan @Indra @Rueger @Malice @Mona @Tarot @Fire @Breccan @Nunataq @marrick

the fallen king was slung across terance’s shoulders, who was broad enough to carry him alone. @Treason insisted on helping, because it was stupid for terance to have to do this alone when there were many able bodies around them. @Pyro, who arrived shortly after the bear had left, had pulled together what he could of @Coelho’s carcass, which was maimed and devoured. it was disgusting, unsightly, but terance insisted that she be taken back to the territory and buried within the borders. honored. they would sit vigil for her. coelho was family. she’d sacrificed her life for rannoch, and terance would never forget it.

only now, that the chaos had died down, had the realization that @Rannoch was not dead, not yet, did terance begin to become fully conscious again. he would remember this moment, remember his wolves gathered around rannoch and coelho’s body. upon his back was a new scar, not as deep as ones he’d gotten before, but forever a reminder of the day he’d lost a packmate. the day he’d almost lost his best friend. and even now, as terance was still processing the situation, he realized that he still could.

@Hyacinth had done what she could for their leader, but there was more to be done within the territory. she’d gotten most of the bleeding to stop, as much of it as she could, and so terance and treason carried him back to the territory, to hyacinths den, so that she could get him proper medical help. terance did not enter with her, leaving her to work in her den. for a while he paced, but he was scolded for being too loud— the leaves underfoot crunched too loudly— so he laid down. he rested his head on his paws, ears cupped forwards as he listened for any signs of anything.

sometimes hyacinth spoke, sometimes to him and sometimes to herself, sometimes to rannoch. terance couldn’t always hear what she’d said, and so he’d always ask her what she’d said. sometimes she didn’t answer, so terance fell quiet.

hyacinth worked for hours, and terance laid there for hours. someone had told @Liffey, but she was not allowed to come visit. pyro brought liffey poppy seeds, courtesy of hyacinth, and some other herbs for shock and sleep. and then pyro stayed with the matron to keep her company, until anyone received news.

terance also was given poppy seeds. which he took thankfully, but he took nothing for sleep.

he laid before the den for hours. treason came often, maybe because she felt obligated too, maybe because she thought he was a danger to himself, maybe because she cared. maybe a bit of all three. terance could never tell, but he appreciated her company, even though sometimes it was her telling him something reasonable that he didn’t want to hear. eat something, terance. rest, terance. he would eat when he knew rannoch’s fate. he would sleep when he knew if rannoch would wake up. he could do anything else when he knew what was happening to his friend. his best friend.

eventually, hours later, hyacinth emerged from the den. terance scrambled to his feet, heart pounded. and their medic share the good news. rannoch had lived. he had survived. but there was nothing more that she could do but wait and see if he survived the night. the man was in critical condition, he had lost a lot of blood.

but hyacinth had saved him.

terance entered the den to see him, knowing he could not touch his friend. he would not, knowing that it might disturb any one of his number of wounds. rannoch laid there, alive, but he’d seen better days. the rise and fall of his chest was visible, but shallow. terance choked on his own breath, letting it out in a shaky manner. the man was unconscious, but alive.

rannoch had lived.

@Nara had been with terance in that moment, and so he sent her to retrieve liffey. terance did not see her reaction, he had left the den, he sat outside with treason now. the only thing he could hear was sobbing, and the hushed voice of hyacinth trying to console her.

—————

terance and treason sat together by the creek, a small ways away from where rannoch rested. she had given him a while for the poppy seeds to kick in, for him to get a small bit of rest in. he’d eaten something.

and then there was business to be discussed.

she was careful how she treaded, terance could tell, but treason was not one to sugarcoat anything.

the hollow could not be lead by rannoch, not right now, especially not with the chance that he would not make it through the night.

terance held his breath as she spoke, angry she could talk about this right now but… also understanding. it was important. this was about more than just rannoch, more than just him. the entire pack was involved in this. he needed to be mature, responsible. he needed to step up.

so he agreed, not reluctantly, but after a small bit of thought and consideration. his eyebrows had knitted together as he’d done so, but he had agreed. and so they discussed a few more things.

and by the end of it. that was it. rannoch was alive, but he was not well, and so terance stepped up to take rannoch’s place, as the alpha of lost creek hollow.

when the dust settled, terance would call together the pack to tell them what had happened, what would happen, and discuss where they’d go from there.
