Embry frowned. The wolf approached him like some sort of haunted creature, prepped for the attack. Himself, Embry stiffened his muscles in preparation for a blow. 

That's when the boy spoke. Embry furrowed his brow; drawing himself to his full height and casting a flinty stare at the stranger. He didn't like being scoffed at, and he especially didn't like it when the sea was involved. He didn't let the vexation overwhelm him, but it was evident in his sudden hostility. There was a hint of disappointment, too, in his pale blue orbs. 

"You're close enough," he remonstrated tersely, ignoring the sea-water comment. There was a challenge in his voice, as well. It slid across the air as though daring the mantled nuisance to test him.
