She thought the man had chased her, thought she could smell him nearby beneath the thick saline in the air and the copper in her throat. The woman spent a restless night hidden in a wind-wrought copse and by morning, was a shivering mass of barely contained hysteria. She passed out around dawn-break, her body shutting down for some much needed sleep, and was roused in the afternoon to the howling of cold wind through the strange trees.

It took Camilla a moment to gather herself; she stood after a handful of moments and looked around at the curving trees, so odd with a bonnet of snow... And then out, following a rocky path towards the beach until she was faced with the world's tumultuous end. Having never seen the sea before, this was quite the moment — but she was exhausted and emotionally drained, and could not quite fathom what she was looking at. The wind felt as if it was being drawn out of her.

Among the howling of the winds and the crashing of the surf, she felt a slow calm descend across her spirit. A soothing balm applied to the deepest of her wounds. There was a voice — no, she imagined it, surely — a voice calling for her, so distantly. Camilla! it said, but it was long and drawn out, and between the sounds she could've sworn she heard - Rheia! And whipped her head around to get a sightline on whoever called.

There was nobody, though. Just the girl and the sea. A roaring to the wind which brought fresh snow with it, but nothing else. Perplexed, she slumped agains the sand.
