That was a bonus to the protection and family like atmosphere that she had recently discovered here at Swiftcurrent. No, now she wanted to stay, and to do that she had to prove herself.

“Well Kavik… you apparently weren’t listening. I thought I might remind you.” She tried to ignore the kindness that was flaring in his green gaze, but she couldn’t bring herself to look away. To stubborn to be perceived as submitting. “Since we are both fine, I will take the turkey.” She didn’t ask for permission, instead she took a step closer, ready to snatch the bird from the brute. “I might be sore, but I’m not an invalid. I can hold my weight.”
