it was late, a mist hunt around her rock, making the waters look murky, and dangerous. even above it was hard to see, but the shines still were bright, and managed to barely crack through the thick musk. ruo could see the sky, and was thankful for the placement. a little ball of fire beside her belly would make it hard to leave.. but she was in peace.

"my little Huojin," the siren whispered, as she gently nuzzled her only son,

"when you see, I will tell you all that there is above."

"when you see, I will share you tales of the unknown."

"when you speak, we will weave tales of the stars."

"when you are older, I hope you can admire them, just as I do."

huojin remained silently curled within the wisps of his mother's fur. a reflection of his brightly-coated father, he surely stuck out, but could not care about such trivial things. he felt her speak and bobbed his head, opening his mouth as might a baby bird.

then, he began the slow, tiring crawl to her belly.
