"you see that @Huojin?" the mother took her son ontop of the rocks for the night. perhaps disturbing his sleep, but she did so anyway. she wanted to share her love the stars, and decided to start sharing their stories. pass on what she knew, from wolf to wolf, to herself, and now to him.

"that is hercules. a warrior among us wolves."

she always found the way it was shaped strange.. it was not a wolf, she could not tell. it looked like a spider really, flattened out, and crawled to the sky. it could be assumed, maybe that is what hercules had done.

no one would not, but the myths and tales that are weaved.

huojin rested half-asleep between his mother’s legs, staring blankly toward the starry night sky. her - cu - les? he asked, 什么是英雄? the word sounded nice, smooth upon his tongue, making him curious to learn more about what it meant.

the silhouette of seagulls flying just above their island stole huojin’s attention for only a moment, before his focus shifted back to their constellation. it didn’t look like much of anything, but by ruó’s interest, he knew that it was something important.

"hero is someone.. you look up to. someone, who fights for the weak. fights for those with troubles." she couldn't think of a proper example, as honestly there wasn't any in her previous, or current life. though with her lil' cub, perhaps.. "you're father is a fighter. he is a hero to us."

yeah, that sounds good. good job to self. especially in english.

"and that hero, was so brave, his image was forever into the sky."

huojin listened closely to his mother’s woven tale, then drew his own conclusion at its end. you.. 你不是英雄, he - ro. their journey to the beach was still fresh in his mind, the trauma of the event slowly growing deeper.

he didn’t expect a response, though. huojin looked back up to the sky and shrugged his shoulders, wondering what (or who) else might be there.

ruo could only laugh, a rare occurrence for the cold siren. it seemed her son still held a grudge against her constantly pushing him against the water. she didn't realize how shy her son was growing, "i'm sorry?"

"tell you what, i'll name anything in the sky you point at until you get tired, ok?"

huojin turned away from his mother in response to her laughter. he felt something, but didn’t have the vocabulary to describe it yet, and so decided that it could be dealt with later.

that, he said, bird? one small paw was lifted toward some neighboring constellation, though his interpretation of the stars was likely inaccurate.

"aquila," the mother said and assumed huojin pointed to, "the hero hercules was placed into the sky for his deeds, but aquila was placed for help. it was said he carried the greatest of weapons to the greatest of wolves. a helper." there was a few different lores she could remember of, however in general, they all gained the same sense that the bird was a helper.

"every star, has a different story, some have more then one."

a - qui.. aqui.. aqui - la. our lionet looked toward his mother for her approval, having already forgotten his prior misgivings. he didn’t know what ‘weapons’ meant, but thought that it was a funny enough word to keep repeating.

eventually, he did lose interest. more, huojin demanded, though he’d already begun drifting off to sleep.

"you see pegasus?" her child eyes were slowly falling downwards, but she looked upwards, and used her paw to guide where the constellation was. "like a deer, but with wings of a bird on his back. the last of him, is forever in the sky."

he was greedy for the stars, and that much, ruo was satisfied. perhaps he fear of water, but at least, they may enjoy the twilight together. watching her little cub fall into peace, was a tranquility she would've never known without him.

"goodnight."

pegasus, his mother called it, but huojin was already unconscious. later, he would dream of amazing scenes taking place in the starscape, perhaps including some of his father's tales, too.. but that could discussed in another thread.
