All Welcome
in the middle of this asinine snowstorm, he had found the forest relatively out of dumb luck. it had been nothing more than a gaping bit of blackness in the early evening, which to a small, scrawny thing like lakhos, should have been reason enough to avoid it. but one could wager that he wasn't the most intelligent when it came to following gut feelings—he just wanted out of the onslaught that was bearing down on the open coast.
where it had been a place of refuge, it suddenly had turned into a nightmare around noon. the winds shifted, came howling across the shore, and it had left him reeling and skittering for safety somewhere else. now cold and displeased with the turn of events that had stolen his temporary sanctuary away from him, he had turned towards the inland with haste.
wash in a twilight glow from where the sun had peaked out in faint slivers of the clouds that had abated in their snowfall for just a while, he didn't notice just how perturbing the forest was. he didn't care either; it offered a great wind break despite being funneled between the mountains.
lakhos thought maybe he should have sussed out sooner.
he wandered it, weaving along the faint trails forged through by others—canine, presumably, as he couldn't see the tracks any more—and his nose worked to test the air carefully. nothing too fresh, which was good. maybe, if he was lucky, he wouldn't be bothered here. but he doubted that in knowing his own luck and the fact that well, this was a natural course that would no doubt send others seeking refuge if they weren't already packed to the gills in this place... and watching him.
