Set a few days after the lynx attack in Duskfire Glacier, on the mountainside adjacent theirs (Tagging @Cthulhu in case she's still hovering around the peaks, but AW!) Keeping this vague because I'm not too sure about the outcome of the event thread yet.

At first he had been filled with determined hope. They had charged through the forest together, set only on finding Tuwawi's lost family and bringing them home. But as sun and moon passed by, and a day turned into three, Malachi's hope began to dwindle and wane. They'd searched every boulder, stone, and pebble, every tree and twig and leaf, and they'd found nothing. Njal's scent was but a whisper on the air, and Lárus' spoke even fainter. The pungent musk of lynx still hovered oppressively around the mountain, but only as faint as the wolves they'd taken. There were no fresh trails, no new clues to the whereabout of Njal or the cats, and that was what unnerved Malachi the most.

He'd left the Glacier early that morning on impulse. He did not know where to go, but knew he could not stay. There was still hope - dwindling, but present - that Njal and Lárus still lived, and Malachi swore to the depths of his heart that they would find them.

The sun hung midway up the sky as Malachi began his descent down the mountainside of their neighbouring peak. The morning had brought little progress, and he had found no trace of Njal or Lárus in any of the surrounding land he'd searched. He'd hoped to find something in the lower cliffs of this mountain, but even here his attempts proved futile. Malachi slowed as the ground sloped steeper before him and he skirted to the left, eyeing the tumbling pebbles his paws sent scattering to the ground before finding a safer path down. He felt frustrated and tired, but he would not give up. He couldn't.
