Quote:This is where my inner falconer comes in. Hehe.
Time had past, and ‘twas time for her young one to spread his wings.
After practicing some scouting as a possible trade the previous week and joining the most recent hunt, she had decided to take some downtime and work with Lil’ bit who wasn’t quite little anymore. Now that he had 7 weeks on him, he was a fledging, nearing ready to fly short distance.
She sat him on a log, encouraging him off her scruff. Then walked a couple yards away. About 6 feet, this shouldn’t be a challenge seeing as he was jumping up and down off things in her quarters.
She stood sideways, her side towards the bird, then gave a gentle but firm call and picked up a decent sized tid bit of fresh elk meat.
To her surprise, he glided with broken flaps toward her and landed on her scruff sloppily. This was progress.
She wagged her tail, pleased! She would go back to the log and do it another time later.
Soon, he would be ready for full flight. Then maybe even accompanying on small game hunts. A true sport.
