Shadow was glad that Scimitar did not object to his idea of letting the pups choose, but then why did he need to object? After all, they were sure to stay with the familiar wolves, the ones who they had known for their entire lives, there was no way any of them would choose to go with a stranger. He wondered what would have happened if they stayed, if Paarthurnax never left and they grew up in the Bypass. Would they look at him the same way they looked at their current guardians? With trust and love? It seemed impossible.
So when Relonikiv wrapped his paws around Scimitar's forelimb and spoke to stay, Shadow was not surprised and neither was he to see Julius glare at them. It was obvious what their answers were.
