Asher was born in a relatively normal manner, her parents being the Alphas of a pack. She grew up, learning the ways of the wolf and the wild; she learned to hunt and fight, to nurture and to care, she learned to when the cooperate and when not to. As per tradition, when Ash reached the age of one, she departed to carve a future for herself, to make her own way through the world. She wandered for a year or so, joining various packs, but never really settling down, finding different faults in every one, realising that none of them really suited her style.

Then during her travels, she met Nova, a she-wolf who she soon became smitten with. Before, she had some suspicions of her sexuality, but she had never been sure. She'd flirted with guys, but they never really caught her attention. It was only when she met Nova that she became sure of who she was attracted to; she fell in love with the girl and she reciprocated Ash's feelings. The two of them travelled together, causing troubles and even raising children together; Nova had many on and off relationships with others and while Ash tried to tolerate it, she never really understood it, or liked it.

One night, about four years into their relationship, Ash walked in at Nova cheating on her and while she'd known her lover cheated many times before, she'd never really seen it. This time, she had had enough and left to clear her mind. That night, she slept alone, and in the morning she had been kidnapped by a pack of military savages who proclaimed her their slave. The men there were brutal and cruel, they took turns in 'roughing her up'. The leader of the pack scarred her right eye, to mark her forever as their slave; he took her brutally, and soon after, his men all took turns in taking her too. It had been apparent that they had also taken her during her heat, as sometime later, she discovered she was pregnant with their pups.

Ash managed to escape to another pack, and there, she gave birth to her pups. She did not know who their father or fathers were, as it could have been any of the men in their pack. Ash could not bear the idea of rearing her captors children, so, another mother in the pack who had lost her litter to the winter offered to take them in. Ash gratefully accepted and left, not knowing where she would go, only wanting to leave that area.
