Though at times brazen, he is stoic: reserved. There is care in the way he presents himself, and at the very forefront is independence, or at the very least: resilience. It was birthed from an absence of care in his life, and in that lack of open affection, his own emotional growth stunted. He is fearful of great displays of fervency, or ardent hearts. It's made him cautious of those whose hearts bear great fire. And while quiet, and withdrawn, there is a lack of secrecy. He has no interest in shading truths, nor unfurling unkindness for the sake of sport. It is not to say he'd be one who would be given to coddling or sugarcoating. Such ideals are foreign to him, as one could easily see.
