Born alongside four siblings to a talented breeder in the southern portion of British Columbia, Aerandír was given a Sindarin name (based solely on the breeder’s love of Tolkien and Middle Earth). The dogs of Mirkwood were all very similar in their natures. Many of them left the breeder’s farm before they were six months of age. It is believed that they were sent to the Undying Lands where they would live to eternity. Those who remained behind were considered royalty of Mirkwood.

Aerandír and his siblings were taken by the man of Mirkwood to the seaside for an autumn trip. The man frequented the cottage beside the ocean as his summer home, though he would frequently visit it in the off season to refresh himself. On this trip, a storm blew in and showered the shores in frigid snow and sharp winds. The Mirkwood dogs were gathered and taken into the cottage for shelter. Aerandír became lost in the swirling grips of winter. In his attempt to find his way back, Aerandír was swept away by the sea waters. On all accounts, he should have been killed, but as fortune had it… he washed ashore on some foreign coastline with no sign or scent of his family.
