11 DAY MARK EYES!
Fabienne did not do much, but nurse, and defecate and stare into the void of darkness to sleep. But there was a stirring there beneath her skin. The thumping of her heart. Wild and free, uncaged. It beat a staccato of a fierce rythmn and it kept her sides moving with it's ways.
There was nothing unusual about this day. The same as any other, she awoke loud and reckless. Moving her head and her body any which way she could. Seeking, searching for the life giving liquid that kept her spirit alive. The warmth of the woman who she could feel the vibrations against when she would speak. But today, on this regular day. There was a change in the stratosphere that was her world. And she did not know what to do except speak louder.
Her body vibrating with the cadence ofher call as she opened her eye sfor the first time and saw light. No shapes, nothing else, but light. There was no ultimate darkness anymore. And she celebrated the only way she knew how. Loudly.

In his current state, Noé was aware of very little beyond his small world. The warmth of his mother would arrive periodically, and with it the milk that gave him the strength to crawl and fuss over his bloodsister. She would shiver sometimes and wriggle others, and had the boy's ears unfurled yet, he would have wished they hadn't.
Nestled in warm furs, Noé was rudely awoken by a blunt nose to the ribs and began to opened his mouth in silent protest - Fabienne would find no milk here! But where darkness once greeted him, shapes and shadows now formed a kaleidoscope in his eyes.
He was captivated. One paw reached clumsily towards his sister - a blurry lump of soot.

chani had been hunting.
she hated to leave them, and scoured the island over and over for any sign of predators that might haunt her den. but there were not so much as rats. cut completely off from the mainland, unable to be seen from the coast, chani and her children were utterly alone.
among the little ones she dropped now, heavily; she was damp with seawater and her mouth smelled of the urchin eggs she had devoured up and down a golden little beach studded with high boulders.
another day, she would name it. for now, chani only slept, pulling the babes closer as her eyelids shut.

Having found a new reason for being. She could see. By the gods she could see. Nothing concrete and nothing made sense. But it was a new sensation. And as such she was incredibly irritated to be gathered to her mother and forced to look elsewhere.
She let out a squeak of outrage. Paws and tail flailing as she tried in vain to release herself of her mother's paws. She chunnered at her mother. Were she able to speak the haitian creole that would roll of her tongue would have been absolutely blazing. But as such. She could only make small noises of protest.
She tried to aim a hard quick at teh brother nearby to show her displeasure, but even that fell short.

His foray into the world of light and dark was cut short by a gathering storm as manman returned awash with new scents and the same, cold feeling she often brought with her. Noe didn't mind. In fact, he quite enjoyed the sensation - for a while.
As the water began to seep into his fur, he sought the warmth of his sister who, despite her flailing, proved to be a suitable heat source. He would feel the sea soon enough, taste the urchins Chani gathered and hear the shriek of gulls. But for now he was content, rolling lazily onto his back to stare up at his mother with big, blurry eyes.

when chani blinked herself to awareness again, baby noé watched her and little fabienne burbled in displeasure. the young woman laughed in spite of herself, sitting up to rub sleep from her eyes.
a grunt of annoyance sounded when chani found that she had brought the ocean back into the den — again. "mwen regrèt, ti wòch mwen yo," moving them to a gentler area and disappearing to shake fur more thoroughly.
returning with moss, she pulled the children against her much warmer belly, tucked the soft green around their hinds and her own chest, and lay back once more.
sleep pulled, but chani was thinking of her mother.

how rude a soft huff. So first, she what lifted her, moved her around. Made her stop looking around. Only to set her back down and leave again! She chirped louder. If she could make one her expression disgruntled and fierce.
She forgave a little at the soft moss. But she still voiced another small grumble. And then settled.
