Intended for @Candle
Maybe it is better to remain oblivious.
Oblivious to your troubles, your sorrows, your hunger. Living in such a way is what kept Pirouz content.
Slim paws trot along, walking as though with purpose — though there is no purpose today. He has ate the previous night, slept the previous morning, there is nothing to be done. His day is free.
He lives simply. He has nothing and has always had nothing, and so he does not want for anything. His life is good, something he can be satisfied with, and yet at times he feels empty all the same. It is a feeling each individual goes through, he reminds himself of this each time. There is no shame in feeling.
He is content, free, satisfied, shameless. Life has been good, the universe has smiled upon him. He wonders, will it continue to do so today?
