@Violante Cruor sorry this is so short x.x

Somebody was here, somebodies were here.

The forest smelled of others who pissed borders into existence and it made his skin crawl, so he skirted around the edges of it. Keen to continue his way towards the east but wary of anybody who might see it fit to...deal with him.

Thankfully so far it seemed to be silent.

no worries at all!

It would not remain silent for long; passion and fervor drove Violante to work tirelessly on her new claim. She refreshed the borders daily alongside Avery, and she would be damned if she allowed her pregnancy to slow her down. Granted, she was only in the first week - if she even was pregnant - but still. She would defend her land, and her family.

As she neared the borders, Violante caught a scent. Her black eyes narrowed, and she followed it, until she found a male. Violante barked, then raised her tail. She would keep a short distance away from him, saying, "Halt there, if you would. You are very close to my borders - do you seek passage through the forest?"

His tail lowered, curled even against his underside. A show that he meant no harm here.

Her words had been heard clearly, but he saw no point in responding with his own voice just yet. Perhaps if he just continued to remain small against the ground, she might take some sort of pity on him.

Pity for a pitiful creature, hm?

A slow whine built in his throat.

When the stranger showed submission and began to whine, Violante told him, "It's alright, I'm not going to attack you or anything." She sat then, as if to prove her words true. She would keep her eyes on him, though, as she added, "All I want to know is your purpose here." She was not against letting anyone pass through, so long as she could guide them and see them out.

He wished she didn't speak.

He wished she spoke in ways he was better suited to communicate with.

Instead he was pushed and pulled into words. His voice would be all but an ugly croak of a sound as he shifted back further from her on his stomach.

No— Not quite. No purpose. Can go.

He felt frazzled, confused, uncertain. It would show in the way he saw to continue pulling away.

The stranger did not seem well. Violante backed away from him, wondering if more space would make him feel better. She tried a new approach. Quietly, she told him, "It's alright, just relax. I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to know who you are." She peered at him - he looked young. Gently, she asked, "What's your name?"

Space.

Space was good, space didn't suffocate.

Makan. Deeply croaked. A voice far too harsh and graveled for a boy of his age.

Briefly he peered at her with big blue eyes before they shot back towards the ground.

Violante offered what she hoped was a relaxing sort of smile. "Alright, Makan. I'm Violante Cruor. It's nice to meet you." She would take it slow - he seemed more relaxed now that she'd given him space. Now that she really looked at him, she could see that he was younger - not quite an adult, but close. "Are you traveling somewhere specific?"

Her name was long.

It was complicated just like all of this talking was. He felt bubbled up with frustration, confusion, disjointed disconnection between them. They were both wolf, but it felt as though they were entirely different.

He did not like it.

Lowly he whined and crept a bit further back from her again.

Violante was growing impatient, though she did her best to hide it. She took a deep breath as he moved away, whining. "You may leave, if you wish. I will not stop you." He was clearly unsocialized - she could work with it, but she didn't expect him to stay. Even so, she offered, "My pack is a safe place, if you wish to stay instead. I could find you a den separate from the others."

The problem was...everything.

Mainly Makan. He was under socialized, he reeked of fear when faced with this woman and the whispers of others being here too.

So just as quick as he appeared, he sought to take off into the dark and shadows. Far away from this place and its pack. The woman had been kind but Makan had too many problems.

sorry it didn't work out ;; but thank you for the thread!

it was fun! but no apologies needed <3

Makan left. Violante sighed heavily, waited a few minutes, then set off after him. She didn't expect him to linger, but she had to ensure that he left regardless; she followed his trail to the edge of her territory, then turned inward, to return to the caverns.
