When he mentioned that he thought Wildfire was an aspiring naturalist, Elwood wasn't surprised -- he remembered how curious she had been about the fallen log and dried up creek bed, and the little crystal she had brought home as a token of their adventure. She was already naturally inquisitive about plants and animals alike. He couldn't quite see Nightjar and Raven's future jobs as clearly, most likely because he hadn't spent as much time with either pup, but he knew that their preferences would emerge in time. If they were anything like their sister, they would make their likes and dislikes known clearly.

"I can't wait to see what they decide to be," he replied with an eager nod of his head. The two males could spectate all they wanted, but it would eventually be up to the firebirds to make their decisions -- and it was good that Peregrine was okay with that.
