Charon seemed to pick up on the joke too, running with it. When he formally welcomed her, Wildfire felt warmth pooling in her belly. She was happy to be here, even if the circumstances leading up to this moment had not been ideal. There was so much to see and do. Hopefully establishing herself here would preoccupy her and she wouldn't have time to dwell on everything and everyone she dearly missed.

With that in mind, Wildfire immediately seized the opportunity. "I haven't actually explored it much," she said, "so I'd love a tour. You're coming too, right?" she added, twitching her snout sideways to smile at Floki. She stretched her neck a little to lick his nose. "You can show me where we'll be sleeping tonight," she murmured, latching onto that thought. It wouldn't the same as her family but it would be wonderful to have a soft, warm, familiar body close by tonight.
