Grezig had never gone near the coast before, but now that they lived at the Plateau, she was afforded relatively close distance to it. Not that she could even see the ocean from here. There were too many trees in the way, but she didn’t care. She never went anywhere for the view. She was on a mission, actually, to recruit the first wolf she saw and attempt to take them back to the Plateau with her. Too many wolves had left. If they were to survive the winter, they needed more members, and fast.

Ah, good. Fate seemed to like her today, for she picked up the scent of a wolf soon after entering the forest. By the scent, she found that the wolf was female and alone. Good. Alone. The pack could do with more males, but Grezig would not complain. Now to find the female and make sure she wasn’t insane before trying to recruit her. The thought of her recruitment of Thorleif hung around like a swarm of bees in the back of her mind anytime she went off to recruit anyone now.

Soon, a dark wolf appeared through the trees. “Hail,” she called out, letting her tail wag and body relax to show that she was friendly. Whoever it was, however, did not want to talk, and moved quickly away from her. Grezig shrugged her shoulders and turned in the opposite direction, heading back home.
