It was raining pretty hard by the time he left the plateau pack, and when he did he felt no better than before. He was furious, having ignited some idle thought in the back of his mind that was growing in strength the longer he thought about it. It bothered him that his brethren would live a life so passive, so controlled, and not give in to their base desires. He thought chiefly of the valley wolves (ignoring the churn of his gut as he thought of the wolves of Easthollow, of their lack of warriors, which was still so unnatural to him).
At least here, in this gap between the mountains, there were wolves willing to fight for themselves. For their land, for the sake of survival. His encounter with the wolf of Blackfeather came to mind as he roamed; then the recent intervention of the Plateau wolves (which is still ongoing so lets just gloss over that, blah blah blah...).
It was better here, as the traveler had foretold. Tulimaq was still adamant that he return to the valley to retrieve Phoenix at the very least, since he had given his word to aid her. For now though, he was confronted with an expanse of forest and mountainous terrain that looked quite intimidating, even to him. He needed to rest; Tulimaq had been traveling for far too long at this point, he needed a warm meal and a few hours of sleep, and he didn't like the look of the forest. So he deviated again - his path coursing backwards, following the undulation of the wooded hills of Ravensblood Forest until they became exposed rock and shale, and then another forest - one that seemed much easier to navigate by comparison.
Tulimaq paused when he was within the shadows of Neverwinter, breathing in the scent of the trees, and finally let out a deep breath; it was like releasing a pressure valve, but only eased his anger to a marginal amount. He paced between the trees. He thought about what he'd given up to be here, the days of travel, and having to explain to his brothers that he would not be gone forever - but here he was, meeting obstacle after obstacle, growing so frustrated that his wrath could burn him to cinders. Perhaps he would turn his sights upon this very forest and it would ignite instead - he felt as if he were on fire with his rage, and was nearing his limit of control.
