He'd blamed himself for the girl's actions for so long, and he'd been far too ashamed to tell anyone even after he came to terms with the reality of it; it's become a subject more sensitive than he really lets on. So hearing Evergreen's words, finally receiving the validation and expression of support he'd probably needed from the start, affects him more than he'd anticipated. It's difficult to be open about himself, even after all this time, but his mate has never made him regret it. He only ever finds himself wishing he'd done it sooner. He closes his eyes, relaxing into the touch.

Winterbourne's voice is low and raspy due to a throat injury during his childhood, and it can sometimes be difficult to understand him.
