Just after the Empress had given birth, she had dropped by to check in on them, but had not been afforded a peek, which was understandable. Since then she had left the new family in peace. She had herself to look after, now well aware of the changes going on with her own body. To say she was nervous was an understatement. But with many other mothers in the pack, Tzila did feel some sense of relief.

With her eyes glued to the den, she could already see that one youngster, Haoming, had fully emerged, with Nüwu not far behind. A small smile on her lips, her tail wagged gently behind her. She did not get close, experienced with the potential uncertainty they may be experiencing. Instead, guided by instinct, she laid out on her belly on the soft sand, trying to look harmless.
