Ravensblood Forest hush, lay down your troubled mind

Derg hadn't missed the howl.
A summoning howl.
He trotted through the woods to the source, mixed scents drifting to him on the air.
Shit.

Then, their forms were revealed. Too many for their small numbers to fight. And he could be that they all had some sort of fighting knowledge.
He dipped his head; submission.
His lips writhed back; anger and fear.
He brushed close up alongside Donovan, eyes trained on them all. Their angry voices like a viper's tongue lashing out at them. His head dipped under Donovan's, pressing the back of his neck to the man's jugular; shielding him. A sacrificial position.
He would sacrifice himself for the dark man, even if it was at the hands of strangers.

He'd nothing else expect what Donovan had given him.

He didn't care what he'd done, Derg had done just as bad - or worse. And he spoke with his own venom against these packs. They wouldn't stand a chance. And Donovan was wise enough to say as much, and hopefully these strangers would be liberal enough to allow it.

But Donovan wasn't going to wait to find out, it seemed. He turned to leave them simmering, but Derg didn't fancy turning his back. He lowered his head as Donovan parted from him, and started to take a few steps back. He would not turn his back on then, no matter what Donovan though of them.
