From the Heartwood, Ciri followed the river. She meandered her way at an easy pace along the route, hopeful that to keep moving might alleviate the weight of her fresh grief. In some ways the new sights, scents and sounds served as a reminder of all she'd lost: her mother and sister had perished, yet the world carried on as though they never existed.
Exhaustion pressed heavily on her, and she felt it weigh her eyelids as she ventured deeper into a dark forest where the tree trunks bled crimson sap - a place she and her family had rested for a time on their trip toward Moonspear the previous Fall. Ciri didn't remember it, having been as tired then as she was currently. She ambled through like a zombie, not knowing what to do with herself and not really caring, either.
The sound of her little paws on the twigs and pine needles that littered the forest floor alerted a family of ravens, particularly its matriarch. She lifted her obsidian beak and peered down at the she-wolf with a single black eye, watching from her perch high above before cawing to loudly to alert the others. Together they cried out in response, offending Ciri's ears which she pinned uselessly to the tousled ebony fur of her nape.
With gritted teeth she shouldered through, eager to leave their shrieking far behind her.

"And then the world started to exist again,
but it existed very differently."
