Her question was valid, and the creeping ache of shame crept through once again. His eyes fell closed, and he tilted his head back, a sigh heavy on his lips. “Let’s just say, he wasn’t as happy to see me as I was to see him.” They had both said some unsavory things, and clearly Kallik had made some pretty harsh assumptions about his upbringing. Selamuit was still upset, feeling unwanted and tossed aside, but in the weeks since he had seen his brother he had had time to reflect and realized he too had made some steep assumptions about his own siblings lives.

With difficulty, he found her gaze again. Her words logical, and calming.

Time. Time would hopefully be his ally for once. Selamuit hoped he’d have another chance to speak with Kallik. If only to apologize for his own behaviour.

He appreciated Keyni’s words and nodded along to her words, agreeing. “All I can do now is hope to find my other siblings. And hope they’ll welcome me one day.” He smiled sadly, but determinedly. He leaned into her, giving her a friendly nudge to convey he was okay.
