Depends on your definition of truth. It's all relative, isn't it? The ones who lived it are dead, and it's the ones who are alive now who get to decide what the truth is,Of course, put that way, all history could be nothing more than fiction. And who was to say that it wasn't? People lie, and misremember, and mislead; maybe history was just an amalgamation of all of those things, only vaguely drawn in the same colors as the reality of it.
So I guess it is about what you believe, or what you make people believe.
