@Ancelin had gone, and @Athalia was upset. Amneris, ever immovable, had taken it all in stride — but that did not mean she would be idle. She'd cast one glance at the distraught form of her sister and parted from the valley, trusting that Athalia would know that she would return.

Amneris set off in search of Ancelin's trail, not quite realizing that the rains and snows would have washed it away. There was no doubt in her that she would find him, but she wondered where he might be found. His departure made little sense to her. The valley held everything they needed, didn't it? She walked with her nose low to the ground, sniffing all around for any trace of the departed man.
