It hadn't happened in a long time—waking up and missing time with no recollection of where he'd been or what he'd been doing. He had been stupid enough to believe that he had somehow cured himself of that mind sickness, but clearly, he was mistaken.
The only thing on his mind when he woke up was Akashingo. How long had he been gone? Did they think he deserted them? he hated that. Sayf would never disrespect Akashingo in such a way. To just disappear—it wasn't like him. So as soon as he was able, he set off for the Mesa. He wasn't very far, about a half-day journey. The entire time he made his way home, he prayed that he hadn't been gone very long. Though looking at how thin he was, he guessed it had been a while.
When he finally arrived home, he paused at the borders, unsure if he should just cross over. If he had been gone for a while, some might consider him a trespasser. They might attack him, and he wanted to avoid that. So he took a seat and leaned his back to call for whoever was nearby.
