Samirseti’s ears flicked back for the briefest moment. A poet? The corner of his mouth twitched, not quite a smirk but close. Her voice was sweet, words dipped in a disarming naivety he found hard to take at face value.
He paused his movement, his tall frame angling toward her. “I am no poet. I simply find words...indulgent.”
His golden gaze swept over her, lingering for a fraction of a second longer than politeness required. That smile of hers, all doe-eyed charm, might have fooled another into lowering their guard. Yet, Samirseti was as coy as they came. He could bat his lashes right back.
“And yet,” he added, tilting his head as if to study her from another angle, “I am glad you find them pleasing.”
He took a step back and let his front legs extend, the tall man dipping himself into a charming curtsy before the girl. His eyes flashed with something quiet, a golden gleam that never left the pale woman. "I am Samirseti."
