“Verapaz,” he repeated after a moment, his tone smooth and even. “I am afraid I have not heard of them.”

At her question, his tail swayed once, slow and languid, the only outward sign of his amusement.

“I come from Ta-Senet,” he said. “Cousins of Akashingo. I am Nephew to Pharaoh Toula and Semer-wati Rashepses.”

He spared no moment to watch her reaction. The last one had been... less than satisfactory. Samir could rightfully say he was eager to arrive at Akashingo, and be paid the dues which he was owed. The respect, the awe of which he was entitled to.
