Gjalla’s heart thundered in her chest as she stood rooted in place, her pulse pounding so loudly in her ears that she could scarcely hear the chaos unfolding before her. Snow whipped in violent eddies as the scene reached its fever pitch: Sun Eater, a black storm of wrath, had barreled through the trees with an unrelenting ferocity that even Gjalla had rarely witnessed. His roar had shattered the air, and before anyone could blink, he had Stark pinned beneath his bulk. The snow had sprayed in a blinding cloud, the force of his arrival leaving an almost tangible mark on the earth.

And now—chaos. Stark thrashed wildly beneath Sun Eater, snarling with the feral desperation of a caged beast. His words, venomous and raw, ripped through the air like jagged claws. “TRAITOR! TRAITOR! YOU CANNOT KILL ME! I WILL HAUNT YOU!” The frenzied repetition of the word, his screams of betrayal and hatred, curdled the air like poison.

Sun Eater’s growls rumbled like thunder, his form unyielding even under Stark’s frenzied attempts to dislodge him. The display was awe-inspiring, a brutal and beautiful show of karma. Gjalla’s breath caught as she watched him rake his teeth near Stark’s throat, a creature wholly possessed by purpose: to defend what was his.

Morwenna’s voice rang out, firm and commanding, though it trembled with the weight of long-buried pain. Her declaration was steeped in a newfound pride—struck Gjalla to her core. This was no longer the queen Stark believed her to be; this was something else entirely. Star Eater, the Chieftain’s wife. A woman reborn in the fires of her own trials, standing beside a mate who would tear apart the world for her.

And yet, she did nothing. She was no diplomat; her words had long since reached their limit, and her presence alone could only offer so much support. She could not intervene, not when Sun Eater had taken the reins with such conviction. She did not want to, anyhow. The rat bastard deserved to die long before today.

Watch, something inside her whispered. Wait.
