The protective shield of Skorpa drew forward, but with him a manner of death. Ayovi was sickened by her lust, by just how much the thought of his touch excited her, and likewise the welling repulsion — his scent, his face, how he acted the day he’d almost torn her throat.
The indigo eyes sought Faust, who had only repelled her through his violence. Who’s attraction commanded her; who’s weight she craved even as he backed away from her, a muscle leaping in the hard jaw where teeth clenched over tongue. The hemlock-green gaze; it is cold. She believed then he would leave her to the plight of the shadowy creature if it meant he could not have her first.
Swiftly she makes her turn, trembling legs anticipate a gallop, far from here, down into the channels of hard blue ice. But not before indigo catches the struck flint of the northman’s eyes. She does not reach for Skorpa— only her whine asks him to follow.
